More than 60 years later, his famous words of wisdom "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires" continue to be at the center of one of the most successful PSA campaigns in our nation’s history.
To renew the important message of wildfire prevention to Americans, particularly adults 18-35, the newest PSAs in the campaign feature a modern version of Smokey Bear with the call-to-action to “Get Your Smokey On” and speak up if you see someone in danger of starting a wildfire.

All the PSAs direct people to www.smokeybear.com to learn all about wildfires and how we can protect our forests.

      <media:category>People</media:category>

Hunger is a reality for 1 in 8 Americans, including millions of children, seniors and working poor. Yet the problem of hunger in the U.S. has remained invisible to most Americans. Many people have the misperception that it is only associated with pockets of society. In actuality, we all know and are in contact with people who are affected by hunger.
The “1 in 8” campaign shows everyday people living their lives. It opens the viewer’s eyes to the fact that hungry Americans are different from the stereotype. It is among us. The campaign urges viewers to discover that many people they interact with on a daily basis are not certain from where their next meal is coming. It also begins to seed the idea that access to food is an essential human need that gives everyone a chance for a better tomorrow. This realization will prompt more people to take action against hunger. For more information about this campaign visit www.feedingamerica.org.

Barriers like population shifts to urban/sub-urban environments, an increase in children’s indoor activities, and a lack of awareness of or access to nearby nature locations have driven this trend.
However, research shows there are many benefits to kids spending time in nature. This time spent outdoors gives children the ability to explore, use their imaginations, discover new wildlife and engage in unstructured and adventurous play.
This campaign seeks to raise awareness of these benefits, inspiring young people to discover the joy of exploring the natural world and encouraging them to experience nature first-hand. As campaign ads depict, nature is also a place of self-discovery. A place for young people to realize and express a variety of personality traits from curious to creative to adventurous.
Children are encouraged to ask their parents to bring them to nature locations and allow them to explore. The website www.DiscoverTheForest.org helps faciliate this by providing a zip code search of forests and parks, powered by Nature Find™ and Google Maps, as well as downloadable activities to take with them.

Author: AdCouncil
Keywords: Discover the forest Re-connecting Kids with nature PSA Ad Council
Added: Mon, 02 Nov 2009 16:04:14 GMT

Video codes to display this video on your website!

http://www.livevideo.com

In the absense of immediate, effective CPR, the chance of survival decreases 7 to 10 percent per minute.
An individual's survival depends greatly on receiving CPR from someone nearby. However, less than one-third of cardiac arrest victims get this help. Most bystanders are worried they might do something wrong or make the situation worse.

This campaign introduces Hands-Only™ CPR -- a two-step technique that involves calling 9-1-1 and pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives. Bystanders are urged to act immediately, using this new technique, when an adult collapses.

The PSAs send the powerful message that hands can do incredible things, but nothing compares to using them to help save a life.
Each year in the U.S., EMS treats nearly 300,000 people who suffer cardiac arrest at home, at work or in public locations.

Individuals are directed to the new website, www.handsonlycpr.org, where they can gain access to information and resources on the technique.
