On Sunday evening, Deputy Nation was in his cruiser when he noticed 18-year-old Lorenzo Williams, Jr. was wearing his baggy pants and wearing them too low in New Ellenton. By Sunday night, the officers conduct was under investigation and by Tuesday, he was arrested and fired.

A Shreveport police officer has been fired after an incident in which a female prisoner taken into custody on suspicion of DWI wound up lying on a floor at the police station in a pool of blood. Much of what happened was recorded on a videotape -- but there is a gap of undetermined length. During that time, the woman wound up injured. Tampa, Florida - Four Hillsborough Sheriffs Deputies are on suspension following an incident where a quadriplegic was dumped out of a wheelchair as he was being booked into jail. The incident was caught on tape showing a detention deputy, Charlette Marshall-Jones, dumping Brian Sterner onto the ground as he was being booked into the Hillsborough jail. "There is no excuse. This is indefensible," says Hillsborough Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Joe Docobo. Docobo says he couldn't believe what he saw and neither could Sheriff David Gee, who is currently out of town. Gee saw the incident on our web site Monday night. According to Docobo, Gee told him "he is as equally disgusted about this incident" as most of people around the Sheriff's Office are. Sterner, who is angry about the incident, says he was speechless when he saw the tape. Sterner had not seen it until we aired it, but as watched it he says was also thankful. "I'm very glad there was a camera present when they did this to me," he says. Sterner's attorney, John Trevena says what happened at the Orient Road Jail wasn't just disgusting, it was criminal. "We believe this case merits criminal charges," Trevena says. According to Trevena, "There is a specific statute that deals with battery on a disabled person and we believe this case merits that." Meanwhile, the attorney for Deputy Steve Dickey is demanding a retraction after we reported his client appeared to be laughing after Sterner was dumped on the ground, and Dickey's wife called several times to assert the deputy wasn't laughing. But both Sterner and Docobo don't see it that way. "When I saw that one deputy laugh, that's when my blood started to boil," Sterner says. When asked if a deputy was laughing, Docobo answers, "It appears that way to me, which makes it all the worse, quite honestly." And that's why Docobo says heads must roll. "Based on what I saw, anything short of dismissal would be inappropriate," he says. That is exactly how Sterner and the majority of the people who saw our story on Monday seem to feel as well. The deputy who dumped Sterner is suspended without pay. The other three supervisors are suspended with pay. In response to many questions about Sterner's condition, he is classified as a quadriplegic; even though he can move his arms, he has lost most of the muscle use in his hands.

As young Eric tries to respond, Rivieri loses it "SHUT YOUR MOUTH, I'M TALKING" he bawls, clearly frightening the boys as one of them tell Eric to stop answering back. Rivieri then marches over to Eric and grabs at his skateboard while wrestling him to the floor by the neck. "SIT DOWN, I AM NOT A DUDE" the portly enforcer cries. Skateboarding AND calling an officer "dude", young Eric certainly does seem to be the scourge of decency and a potential Al Qaeda member. "I didn't do anything" the child pleads. "When I'm talking to you, you shut your mouth and listen. First of all you disrespected me, my badge and this department." No Salvatore, I think you did a pretty good job of that all by yourself. A Sheffield Lake woman who gained local notoriety last year when she was shot with a Taser at the Sheffield police station pleaded no contest Thursday to beating her boyfriend and attempting to load a shotgun while drunk over the summer. Kristina Fretter, 32, will not be sentenced to additional jail time because she has spent the past 55 days at the Oriana House, a lockdown alcohol treatment facility in Akron, according to defense attorney Kenneth Nelson. Fretter has been sober since Aug. 8, the day after the incident, Nelson said. Fretter was charged with handling a firearm while intoxicated and domestic violence in August following the violent spat with her live-in boyfriend, Brendon Naylon, who is also the father of her 6-year-old daughter. The child was upstairs sleeping when the fight occurred. Officers found a Winchester Model 12 pump shotgun with two 12-gauge shells next to it on a couch. Fretter was so intoxicated she couldn’t get the shells into the gun, which is why she didn’t face more serious charges, police said. Naylon told officers that when he came home from work about 9 p.m., he and Fretter began arguing about scratches she found on Naylon’s face, and Fretter threw a glass candle holder at him, striking him on the head. The two began wrestling. Naylon tried to hold her down and Fretter pounding and scratching at him, police said. Naylon walked outside, but when he returned to the home minutes later, he found Fretter trying to load the shotgun, according to the report. He escaped outside again and found officers. Fretter also pleaded no contest Thursday to a DUI charge from a separate incident in June in Sheffield. Fretter has an additional DUI charge pending in Avon Lake. In each of those incidents, Fretter was uncooperative with police, according to reports. Last November, she was stunned with a Taser while in handcuffs in the Sheffield Police Department booking room after being picked up for drunken driving. The officer who fired the Taser, Edward Long, resigned, and charges were dropped against Fretter in exchange for her promise not to sue the village. Fretter’s daughter is in Naylon’s care pending a custody hearing.

MIAMI -- The Miami-Dade police department will begin experimenting with high-tech drones as law enforcement tools beginning next year. Although the military has been using unmanned aircraft systems for years, this will be the first time they are used in law enforcement. "We are aware it is a great responsibility. The FAA is looking at us to see if we can professionally manage this program," said Lt. Cliff Nelson of the police department's aviation unit. Miami-Dade police said only licensed pilots with the aviation unit will operate the devices because the airspace in the county is so busy. Only the Miami-Dade police department and the Houston police department were given permission by the FAA to experiment with the drones. "The capability of the unit is phenomenal," said Miami-Dade Detective Juan Villalba. The unmanned aircraft will be used during SWAT team and tactical operations, especially when officers need video of a heavily armed suspect. The Miami-Dade police department has not yet taken possession on its drone, but the Houston police department has and is already conducting tests. Miami-Dade hopes to use grant money to pay for the MAV. Officials said the units are pricey. When neighbors noticed black trucks, satellite dishes, swirling radars, and "a portable launch pad, with something covered up" on a Waller County Ranch, they had no idea what to think. CNN's Houston affiliate KPRC has partially solved the mystery: Houston police plan to start using unmanned drone aircraft. But, a question still remains: what, exactly, will the drones be used for? The mood surrounding Waller County Ranch was highly secretive. At the entrance to the test site stood a Houston police road block, making sure only those invited were let through. HPD lieutenants refused to answer any questions from KPRC reporters, but KPRC still managed to gain footage of the "test [we] were not supposed to see." "[The] drone was able to use a high-powered camera to track us," says Stephen Dean, who tracked the drone for KPRC. "Those cameras can actually look into people's homes or even follow them in moving cars." Drone Planes are not new to the United States. The military has been using drones for secret war zone surveillance for years; drones were also used to put out the California wildfires last month. The drones used for the test in Houston weigh only 40 pounds, but can carry 15 pounds more in gear. They are able to stay airborn 15 to 24 hours without landing. According to Dean, the fact that Houston police will be able to employ such high tech security devices raises "all sorts of new questions." One question: how will law enforcers will utilize the drones? A policeman conducting a search needs probable cause or a warrant -- will drone planes adhere to the same laws? When the HPD realized their "secret test" was being filmed, they "hustled together" a news conference. "I wasn't ready to publicize this," said Martha Montalvo, the executive assistant police chief. She said that potential public safety applications include "mobility, evacuations, homeland security, search and rescue, as well as tactical." Montalvo said that it was "too early to tell" what else HPD will do with the aircraft. Police helicopter pilots said the entire air space surrounding the test site was restricted and, according to Dean, "threatened ... two investigative pilots with action from the FAA if [they] didn't leave." But, when KPRC checked with the FAA, they learned there never was a flight restriction. For Dean, that leaves some wonder "whether the police are now ready to use terrorism fears since 911 to push the envelope further into our private lives." "We've seen that some of these technologies that are being used in the aftermath of 9/11 that we thought were necessary to protect our security in that time are now being used to diminish privacy in other contexts," said an unidentified male filmed by KPRC. "And that is extremely worrisome."
