Major milestones of the GLBT Movement for equal rights. We've come a long way but still have a long way to go! We must be strong and keep the Movement alive until we have complete equal rights, otherwise we are submitting that we are just 2nd-class citizens who are not equal to everyone else. Update: Prop 8 passed in the state of California on Nov. 4, 2008, banning same-sex marriage but the fight is not over! You will probably have to pause the video to read each complete milestone. October is <a href="http://www.hrc.org/issues/coming_out.asp">National Coming Out Month</a> and October 11th is National Coming Out Day. Have you been in the closet for a while and tired of hiding it and trying to act like, and be, someone you're not? Coming out is NOT about shouting it out and telling everyone (though it does require you to talk to some people like close friends and/or relatives), but it's more about you being able to accept yourself and not care what others think of you for being yourself. When you get to that point where you can say, "Oh well, if someone wants to hurt me or worse just because of who I am, that's their problem and I'm willing to take that chance, but I AM going to BE ME. To help you with coming out, get the <a href=" http://www.hrcactioncenter.org/campaign/coming_out_day_kit_standard">HRC Resources For Coming Out Kit</a>. Also, if you are already "out", as the campaign says, "Talk About It". Help make it easier for others to "come out".
