Rare 1949 episode of the TV series "Captain Video and His Video Rangers", considered by many to be the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" of Classic TV. The show is about a "Space Captain" and his "Video Ranger" who must the galaxy from the evil Dr. Pauli. Low production values, bad acting and bad writing combine to create a very surreal TV show. The show was live, which would explain the missed cues. It's believed most of the master prints were destroyed after the show was cancelled

Ming the Merciless is suspected to be behind the plague, and Flash Gordon is sent with Dr. Zarkov and Dale Arden to the planet Mongo to find the cause of the plague, as well as a cure. Caused by Ming's spaceships dropping "Death Dust" into the Earth's atmosphere, they eventually find an antidote for it and Flash and Zarkov distribute it by the same method soon after the start of the series, while Dale Arden remains in the forest kingdom. Soon reunited with her, the trio continue to battle Ming, his cohorts, and his underlings. Ming's Captain Torch is the "spearpoint villain" of this serial, a type of character which the previous two did not have. He takes tactical command of the efforts to stop them. Before they leave, they destroy Ming by locking him in a tower and crashing a rocket ship into it. Prince Barin takes his rightful place as ruler of Mongo. In his rage, Ming said, similar to King Louis XIV of France, "I am the universe!" for nearly his last words. And so, with a simple metaphor, Flash Gordon is said by Zarkov at the end of the series to have conquered the universe. While the idea of swapping brains between bodies is nothing new, this film is an enjoyable attempt to make a movie about the topic. Please notice that multiple transplants are conducted. We never see anyone with so much as a suture, let alone a shaved head. I love b-movies.

Monster from the Surf is a Z movie. It doesn’t have the notoriety of the likes of Robot Monster (1953), Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958) and Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), but in all essential qualities it stands up there alongside. Bizarrely enough the film was directed by and stars Jon Hall, a former matinee idol in the 1940s in films like The Hurricane (1937), Kit Carson (1940), Arabian Nights (1942), Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves (1942), Cobra Woman (1944) and various Invisible Man sequels. (Monster from the Surf was Jon Hall’s one and only directorial outing and indeed the last film he appeared in before his death in 1979).
