Let me tell you a story I heard on the radio
About a man who loved a woman
And a woman who loved a man
This story has no boundaries
And this story has no end
When a man loves a woman and woman loves a man
When a man loves a woman and woman loves a man

One day it just happened
When driving into town
A bus came down upon them
And turned their lives around
A bus came down upon them
And turned their lives around
Tom he got hurt but he’d be alright
Melissa lay in a room fighting for her life
They couldn’t wake her up and feared for her life

This story has no boundaries
And this story has no end
When a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man
When a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man
Tom he loved that girl more than he love his own life
He’d waited for a long time for her to be his wife
And he’d wait another lifetime for her to be alright
Yea he’d wait another lifetime for her to be alright

She felt him when she slept
She saw him in her dream
She saw him when she woke up
But she didn’t know his name
She didn’t know his name but she loved him just the same
She didn’t know his name but she loved him just the same

This story is almost finished
But there’s still no end
When a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man
When a man loves a woman and a woman loves a man

(all words and music by Don Charbonneau)
This song is dedicated to the memory of a great Canadian folk hero Terry Fox.
Note: We kept the arrangements simple with just voice, acoustic guitar and electric bass played by my son Noel who also provided the wonderful back ground vocals. This song was recorded live off the floor at Easter Island Studio in Sudbury in August 2005. My wife Jude inspired me to write this song and paid for its production!

It’s cold out on this highway
Headlights coming down
There’s a man standing there waving at me
I know I’ve seen better days
I know I’ve seen better days

Started out on an island
Newfoundland is where I’ve made my start
Ran across the Maritimes
I felt like quitting there a hundred times
I felt like quitting there a hundred times

And I’m running for my life
And I’m running for my life
I’m running for you and me
I’m running for you and me

When I got down to White River
I knew something was going wrong
I had a dream in Terrace Bay
I dreamt this pain quit chasing me
I dreamt this pain quit chasing me

And I’m running for my life
And I’m running for my life
I’m running for you and me
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free

Author: doncharbonneau
Keywords: Dedicated to Terry Fox Canadian Folk Hero Marathon of Hope Cancer can be beaten.
Added: Mon, 26 Feb 2007 01:10:20 GMT

Video codes to display this video on your website!

http://www.livevideo.com

Running Free

(all words and music by Don Charbonneau)
This song is dedicated to the memory of a great Canadian folk hero Terry Fox.
Note: We kept the arrangements simple with just voice, acoustic guitar and electric bass played by my son Noel who also provided the wonderful back ground vocals. This song was recorded live off the floor at Easter Island Studio in Sudbury in August 2005. My wife Jude inspired me to write this song and paid for its production!

It’s cold out on this highway
Headlights coming down
There’s a man standing there waving at me
I know I’ve seen better days
I know I’ve seen better days

Started out on an island
Newfoundland is where I’ve made my start
Ran across the Maritimes
I felt like quitting there a hundred times
I felt like quitting there a hundred times

And I’m running for my life
And I’m running for my life
I’m running for you and me
I’m running for you and me

When I got down to White River
I knew something was going wrong
I had a dream in Terrace Bay
I dreamt this pain quit chasing me
I dreamt this pain quit chasing me

And I’m running for my life
And I’m running for my life
I’m running for you and me
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free
And I’m running running running now
And I’m free

Words and music Don Charbonneau

I remember the first time
I saw those Northern lights
Dancing in the night sky
Tears were in my eyes
I fell down to the ground
Thought I was seeing some vision
Of a brand new world
Thought god showed me his version
Of a creation yet unborn

I didn’t know what to do
I laid there on the ground
My head filled up with color
I’d never seen before
I’d never seen before
The star they made a sound
Some sweet celestial harmony
I never heard before
I’ve never seen again

Author: doncharbonneau
Keywords: Canadian Folk music and art Algonquin Park Pukaskwa National Park

I fished in wind and
I fished in rain
I fished on waves and
I fished in fog
Cause I got bills to pay.

I got water coming in
I got water coming in
Old bilge pump
She’s broken down
I got water coming in
I got water coming in
Brad Buck come and tow me in.

Won’t be no fishing here today
I’m adrift here on Michipicoten Bay
And I hope those three sisters don’t come my way
I hope those three sisters stay home today.

I got a six foot wave pushing me
I see those rocks half a mile away
Brad Buck come and tow me in.
I got three nervous guys here on board
A big fog bank moving in
This compass has gone all to hell

I got water coming in
I got water coming in
Old bilge pump she’s broken down
I got water coming in
I got water coming in
Brad Buck come and tow me in.

Won’t be no fishing here today

Words and music-Don Charbonneau

There’s a place I go every summer
Small town North Ontario
On the north shore of gitche gomee
Where I’ve heard say
The stars were born
Big city don’t mean a thing to me
I work here all winter long
I dream of June when I’ll be gone
To my small town North Ontario
To my small town North Ontario

Lake Superior I can see you now
I can hear your waves crashing on my soul
I’ll stop down at Katherine Cove
To hear your wind sing my song
Sault Ste. Marie your behind me now
A few more hours I’ll be gone

(all words and music by Don Charbonneau)

It’s cold out here tonight- wind is just a howling
Heard on the radio that my good friend John died today
It’s cold out here tonight first snow is falling down
I’m walking down this highway
Going back to my northern home

I came out here six months ago
Just a country boy looking for a city job
I got work in a stamping plant
Making parts for cars I still can’t afford.

It’s cold out here tonight wind is just a howling
Heard on the radio that my good friend John died today
It’s cold out here tonight
First snow is falling down
I’m walking down this highway
Going back to my northern home

I met a girl out here… she worked in a local bar
She went to school by day… and did her research here at night.
She said…Don I got to tell you now
You’re the best tipper I ever had
You’ve almost paid my way to finish this degree.
One thing you got to know
A city boy you’ll never be
You ‘ve got to get yourself back home
And touch a star for me.

It’s cold out here tonight wind is just a howling
Heard on the radio that my good friend John died today
It’s cold out here tonight
First snow is falling down I’m walking down this highway
Going back to my northern home
John if you can hear me now
I want to thank you for taking me
To places I’ll never see
But where the people are just like me.

Author: doncharbonneau
Keywords: Tribute to great American writer John Steinbeck Cannery Row Of Mice and Men... by Canadian Folk Sing
Added: Sun, 18 Feb 2007 05:23:16 GMT

Video codes to display this video on your website!

http://www.livevideo.com

(words and music by Don Charbonneau)

He coming home in the early spring
With a load of fur in his old canoe
Guargantua he was heading for
Off shore wind was blowing fair.

He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair
He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair
He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair

Wind suddenly turned around
Gitchee Gumme now was blowing strong
He became afraid for his life
Forgive me Lord if I have sinned.
But my wife and children I do love
My wife and children I do love.
He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair

Oh Manitou what have done
Have I not sang your praises enough?
This last tobacco I do offer
For two more miles of safe water

He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair
He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair
He was two miles from the Devil’s Chair

He was coming home in the early spring
With a load of fur in his old canoe
Guargantua he was heading for
Off shore wind blowing fair

I remember the days when drive-ins where in
Back in 1959
I was just a kid then I had no money to pay
I’d sneak around the old farmer’s field
I’d lay on the grass and look at the stars
On that old silver screen
I couldn’t hear a sound
So I’d mainly look up at the stars up in the sky

I want to go back in time to see if I can find
The child I used to know
Ask if it’s alright if I can stay for a while
Cause I’d like to see my mother smile
Cause I’d like to see my mother smile

Well those times are dear
And the memories so clear
There just like yesterday
When my world was bright and to my delight
Shone like a brand new car
The drive-in is now closed
And there’s holes in the screen
And those cars have all turned to rust

I want to go back in time to see if I can find
The child I used to know
Ask if it’s alright if I can stay for awhile
Cause I’d like to see my mother smile
Cause I’d like to see my mother smile

I remember the days when drive-ins where in
Back in 1959
I was just a kid then I had no money to pay
I’d sneak around the old farmer’s field
I’d lay on the ground and look at the stars
On that big old silver screen
I couldn’t hear a sound
So I’d mainly look up at the stars up in the sky

I want to go back in time to see if I can find
The child I used to know and ask if it’s alright
