Generally, I dislike being around spiders, but this one was fascinating. The web didn't radiate out from a centre point like with the spiders I'm used to seeing, but came outwards from a wonderful "ladder" structure down the middle that the spider used to run up and down to where he's go across the web to get the prey he caught. And at the top he had woven an incredible rectangular 'house' for himself.

A Cape Buffalo takes a mud bath at the edge of the waterhole at Ponwani Hide. The mud not only helps keep him cool, but when he wallows he rubs off some of the ticks and coats himself so the flies can't bite so badly.

Elephant monitoring at Ponwane Hide, Tembe Park, South Africa. We would have to try to identify the elephants, see if they looked healthy, tell who they were hanging out with, what they were doing, where they came from and where they were going. The peaceful surroundings made it a job I especially enjoyed.

These are small sleeping houses built around the homestead. When a man is too old to live with his mother but not yet married, he builds one of these on the homestead property. He uses it for sleeping and generally still eats and hangs out with the family in the central area of the homestead.
