Every evening people come out to watch the sunset on the West coast. The West coast of Florida that is. One such place is the North Jetty Park in Venice Florida. Using video compression to produce a timelapse effect shows how the crowd comes out and goes back in like the waves them selves. The was supposed to be a precursor to a video project I was working on called "101 Sunsets". But after doing this video I ran into a compression realization. Vegas 7.0 only lets you 'slip' compress video (ctr-click one edge of the video envelope and slide) to 25% of original. You then can further compress by inserting a velocity envelope into that video event (in this case a sunset) reducing time even a further 66%. And that is it. So most of my sunsets have been 6 minutes of video. Compress that 75% to 2 minutes then 66% comes to 39.6 seconds. Are you still with me, good. 39.6 seconds times 101 is 3960 seconds or 66 minutes. Basically 1 hour and 6 minutes. There in lies the problem. Will you sit there if even I was able to upload a 1 hour and 6 minute video? Heck, you still aren't even reading this. So the project is dying fast. I did read you could render the video, reimport it than compress it again. I will see if I do that or not. Even I don't know at this time. Stay tuned.
