Sam the Black Cat goes to the University for another post cancer/chemo check: hopefully the last one for a while. Hurray!! If she appears apprehensive, it's because she knows where she's going; Sam and Mama do take rides to other places (PetsMart, the park, friends' houses), but Sam knows these extra long rides tend to end at that place where strange people handle her and poke her! Sam relaxes on the way home, lounging on her feather pillow and supervising the driver from the back window. I didn't realize while filming but Sam was hunting for her pillow under our coats! At the end of Part One of Sam the Black Cat's Lawn Gets a New Look we see the terrifically overgrown rear border, and try if you can to imagine what a flourishing mosquito heaven it is! Besides annoying me, they were plaguing Sam too, and I was afraid they might transmit some nasty to her. I found Golden Harvest on the Internet while searching for a good place to go to breakfast in this University town while my beloved cat Sam is at the U for chemo treatments. Sam has Feline Mammary Adenocarcinoma (breast cancer); she's doing very well (her page is http://superiordpweb.com/articles/Sam.html). Golden Harvest has outstanding food. The chef, Zane, formerly ran a country club kitchen, uses mostly organic foods and has a wonderful culinary touch. Get there early; GH is open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. I met Rome and Jaime there, great people!

Brimstone the Cat is so incredibly good at walking on her leash, better than a lot of dogs. Her Mama walks her and Daddy is the cameraman; there's some very cute interaction when Daddy backs into a tree branch while filming (Check the grin on Brim's Mama's face just before). "Two Cats at the Back Door" -- I like to have Purr, Sam the Black Cat's feline housemate, go outside with Sam, especially in the driveway. Purr is larger and more aggressive, which would come in handy were a dog to approach Sam. When I first got my cats I realized I didn't know anything about cats, so I got two books, "Good Owners, Great Cats" by Kilcommons and "How to Get Your Cat to Do What You Want" by Epstein. Both books encouraged cat owners to allow their cats to remain indoors, but to teach them to walk on a leash as a way to widen their worlds and keep them happy, so that's what I did. I posted the video "Sam in Driveway on Harness and Leash", among other videos in the same vein, showing Sam having a great time outdoors on her leash. A comment was posted saying Sam is too skinny, and that I was wrong to let Sam outdoors on a leash and that cats should be let to "rome" [sic]. This is the reply. Sam, my darling black cat, has feline mammary adenocarcinoma -- breast cancer. The lump on her stomach was removed July 19, 2006. It's January 17, 2007 and Sam and her Mama and Daddy are in the car, on the way to the University for carboplatin chemo treatments. Sam is doing very well, the residual cancerous lumps are gone. She likes to ride in the car and look out the window. As she "says" in this clip, the best part of the day is being with her Mama and Daddy.
